Presentation

The Foundation, dedicated to the memory of the late Gino Galletti, esq., was created in Bologna in 1996, by the wills of the family. Having received the formal approval of the Italian Ministry of Health as a non-profit organization in 1998, the Foundation became operative in 1999. The Charter of the Foundation call for the promotion of scientific research on Alzheimer disease and other neurodegenerative pathologies, and the diffusion of the public awareness on this subjects.

To these aims, the Foundation found a preferential but not exclusive partner in the Department of Neurological Sciences of the University of Bologna.

Currently ongoing researches supported by Foundation are mostly directed to study the basic neurobiologic mechanisms of neurodegeneration in pathologies like Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's disease, human transmissable encephalopaties ("prion diseases"), and rare  neurodegenerative diseases like the Leber's optic neuropathy .

The support of the Foundation is acknowledged in various  scientific publications  in international journals.
